Strengthening Capacity of Cross-Border Peace Committees in Liberia


UNDP is seeking proposals from qualified CSOs/CBOs to Strengthen Capacity of Cross-Border Peace Committees (CPCs); Support Cross-Border Women Initiatives; and Organize Sport and Economic Activities in Nimba County.

The Project also aims to support CBOs reinforcing their capacities of being key intermediaries between local government institutions in Liberia) and mirroring communities, promote communities’ values, building social capital and social change for peacebuilding purposes, actively participate to build trust within/between communities to work toward peaceful solutions and more especially promote women’s rights and fight against SGBV.

Grant will be awarded to the most technically compliant and responsive CSO/CBO based on demonstrated capacity and experience. Selected CSO/CBO will be expected to work in close collaboration with the Ministry of Justice (Liberia National Police, Liberia Immigration Service), Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency,  Ministry of Internal Affairs (County Development Authorities), Peace Building Office (PBO),  other key stakeholders, IOM and UNDP.

Deliverables


  • Strengthen capacity of  Cross-border Peace Committees (CPCs) for Liberia  through tailored training based on identified capacity gaps and/or level of significance of issues pertinent to specific communities to effectively mitigate disputes notably land disputes, and conflicts in their respective communities,

  • Support cross-border women’s associations in promoting women’s rights and respond to SGBV through awareness raising and legal advice,

  • Promote community development, socio-economic exchanges and economic recovery activities especially in the agriculture sector and in commence for - survivors of SGBV, and

  • Facilitate and organize cultural, sport, and economic activities specifically for women including Cross-Border Peace Committees (CPCs) with a view to improving social cohesion.


Impact of Results

Strengthened conflict prevention and dispute resolution platforms for dialogue, joint problem –solving and cooperation, including women, youth and other vulnerable groups in the project’s targeted communities.

Eligibility Criteria

Grant will be awarded to CSO/CBO based on the following considerations:

  • National and/or local Civil Society Organization (CSO)/Community Based Organization (CBO)

  • The CSO/CBO is duly registered in Liberia and must have office in Nimba County

  • The organization’s proven administrative and financial management capacity to undertake the project

  • The relevance of the proposal to achieving the expected deliverables/results and related budget

  • The institutional capacity of the CSO/CBO
