”la Caixa” Foundation: International Cooperation Social


The ”la Caixa” Foundation is pleased to announce the 2022 International Cooperation Social call to fight against poverty and inequalities, focusing action mainly on the most vulnerable individuals and families, with the aim of contributing to improving their living conditions and facilitating comprehensive development and social inclusion processes.


This call is aimed at generating opportunities to tackle poverty and contribute towards the fight against inequalities in countries with lower rates of development in Africa, Asia and Latin America, through projects implemented by Spanish NGOs in collaboration with local partners in the recipient countries.


Areas of Action


The program focuses on the social and economic problems that hinder the sustainable and equitable development of local communities and the achievement of the goals of the 2030 Agenda.


The call includes three fields of action:

  • Socio-economic development: In this area they want to promote projects that seek to strengthen the economic and productive fabric, under a rights and human development approach, in the poorest communities and vulnerable. All this, through the creation or strengthening of businesses and the promotion of initiatives income generation and employment opportunities.

  • Health improvement: In this area they want to promote projects that promote the universal right to health. Despite of the scientific and technological advances that have made it possible to continue improving people's health, there are still important shortcomings that increase inequalities that widen the gender gap. Health between countries and between people.

  • Promotion of education and training: In this area they want to promote projects that promote for girls, boys, adolescents and young people the opportunity to enjoy their right to education, regardless of whether have different abilities or any other condition of their own or their families . Likewise, it is considered strategically important to achieve the sustainable and quality development of local communities to improve the technical and professional training of people, as a condition for the generation of higher quality job opportunities.


Funding Information


  • Projects submitted to this call may apply for grants for an amount of up to €50,000.

  • The requested amount must be linked to the execution of a project with a duration of up to 12 months.

  • The amount requested may not exceed 75% of the total cost of the project. In the event that the project is selected, the entity undertakes to contribute at least 25% of the total cost of the project, regardless of the amount of aid granted.

  • This contribution may be made by another co-financer, the local partner, etc., remaining excluded from the calculation possible contributions from the final beneficiary groups of the project.


Approaches


Cross-cutting approaches for the three areas:

  • Participation and empowerment of the people and communities involved, especially the most vulnerable sectors

  • Adaptation to the conditions of the communities with which it will work, in accordance with the needs of each community

  • Promotion of human rights and local capacities

  • gender approach

  • Children's rights

  • Greatest possible efficiency, without conditioning effectiveness

  • Sustainability in all its aspects

  • Promotion of innovation and introduction of new technologies

  • Attention to groups in conditions of vulnerability or at risk of exclusion

  • Appreciation of volunteering as a tool for solidarity and cooperation


The selected projects may have the opportunity to participate in the international volunteer program CooperantesCaixa, if the conditions for it are met.


Eligibility Criteria


The following types of organizations can apply for the call:

  • Non-profit organizations.

  • Social economy organization that specifically state in their Articles of Association that their goal is to promote international development aid.

  • These organizations must be legally incorporated and recorded in the corresponding register, domiciled in Spain and have the institutional goal of carrying out activities connected with international development aid.

  • The organizations must have a local partner in the country where the project is to take place.


Eligible Countries

  • The projects to be developed may be implemented, as a priority, in countries with a Human Development Adjusted for Inequalities (IDHAD) low and medium, with significant

  • pockets of poverty in Africa, Asia and Latin America in which the”la Caixa” Foundation has implemented projects since 1997.

  • Projects must be implemented in a single country.
